A UK question?

I would like to travel to the UK sometime in the future, and well i hear that London is bascially just where tourist go now. I would like to travel somewhere where I can get a good essence of what the UK really is, and a place where I can still have fun as a teenager. (Im 18).. Is there any suggestions?

Don't go to any suberbs of Londen as the previously mentioned said. It begins with C.

Go to london for a day or two then catch a national express coach to the best city in England, called Manchester. The suburbs of manchester are very nice to. You will get a feel for the country here. Try the pennines for example. Also from manchester you can visit plackpool(amusement park) and have some fish and chips by the sea side.

London is an absolute must-do.  In fact, it's getting to the point that you need to spend at least two weeks just to get the basics in.

If I were to go to England,and have the time and money to do things right, I might check out Bath, Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, the Cotswolds, Lake District.

Of course, all of this is not about having teenaged fun, but checking out cultural and historic parts.  I'm not up on the teenaged fun stuff...I understand Glasgow might be good for that, but I loved Edinburgh for Scotland.  And I wouldn't miss Scotland, while you're there.  

And you want to get a little taste of Wales as well.  

The real thing to remember is that with inflation and the weak dollar, all things European, and especially, Britain, London more than anyplace, are REALLY expensive these days!  So, unfortunately, unless you really DO have all the money you want, you might have to just stick to about a week or so, depending on your budget, so that means picking a couple of spots and staying with them.

Well obviously London is good for the nightlife and there is a lot for a tourist to see but.....

Manchester is great for shopping and nightlife

Warwick Castle (my favourite place ever) is a must see for history and entertainment (make sure you do the Ghosts Alive - it's brilliant)

Stonehenge and Avebury Circle

The Lake District is one of the most beautiful places in the UK (if not the world but I am a bit biased!)

Cornwall and parts of Wales have old metal mines you can go through.

Scotland is a beautiful place to visit and there is some great nightlife in the cities.

There are thousands of other historical places to visit - too many to mention here and most large towns have a good selection of shops and places to go at night.

EDIT - having seen other posts------How could I forget Blackpool and Brighton. Blackpool is great fun, especially for older teens such as yourself and Brighton is a great place. It is a pebble beach but there is so much happening that you probably won't be on the beach much. Plus there is a fantastic chocolate shop called Chockywocky Doo Dah (I have almost certainly spelt that wrong so I do apologise!)

Although London is full of tourists, if you're visiting the UK I would still advise visiting it.

Westminster, seen across the Thames at night - that's beautiful, and very much a big part of what the UK is.

Oxford is very beautiful too - not as prominent as it used to be, but definitely worth a visit.

Bristol too, which is diverse and quite alternative, (lots of good clubs and bars too, as well as amazing shops) and whilst you're there, I'd say see the rest of Somerset, see some of the old archaeological sites, that are an important part of British history even if the only one most people have heard of is Stonehenge!

I'd also say visit Wales - it's normally ignored and forgotten, but you can go out walking or do a load of other activities...

Depends how much you're wiling to travel, but if you want to stay in the same area, I'd say Bristol, because you're in Somerset, not far from Cardiff, not far to have a day trip to London, Southampton, Bournemouth (if the weather is good!)...

London Is definitely the place to go and has the most sights and is very touristy.  If that's not what your looking for you could try somewhere with a beach like Blackpool or Brighton

You'd love London.  I live and work in London and I'm not a tourist!

There are lots of tourists but there is a reason why they go there...

You should also try some other cities if you want to party, Leeds, Manchester, Brighton.

If you are looking for a bit mix and fancy some peace, Cornwall has lots of lovely beaches and the Lake District is great!

I like it that you would like to come to UK,  Here are a few ideas for you to consider.

Although we are a small country there are lots of areas all with their own attractions and scenery.

I will try to show you some of them. The Lake District is in Cumbria, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Did you know? Wherever you are in Britain you are never more than 75 miles from the coast, and our coastline is spectacular.!!! :-D

There is also Scotland and Wales, both with their unique identity and beautiful scenery.  

The isles of Scotland are spectacular, as is Snowdonia in Wales.

id say your best bet is somewhere along the west coastal areas they are far better than most other places

All of the major cities are good to see. London is the must go but all around the coast is good Wales Devon Cornwall Norfolk. Shropshire where I am from is the birth place of modern industry and has many places to go and see. It depends what your interests are.
