A child's thing?

I'm not a parent and my niece is encouraged to write little poems -with the help of family - and things as part of her daycare project this month.

She states she came up with this on her own and I almost believe her

Twinkle twinkle little star

Riding on a trolley car

When the trolley jumps the track

Ouch! I want my nickel back!

but I think she may have heard it elsewhere and is claiming as her own.

Have you heard this before or read it before?

  1. let her parents and the daycare staff decide if it matters or not

you didn't say how old she is but it's quite common for children to claim they have done things, been places or claim something as their own

it's all part of them learning about the world, what is believable, plausible, what they can get away with, and who with, it's not a bad thing, just part of normal development, try not to worry and just enjoy her!

  2. I more likely scenario is that the teacher or mom wrote or borrowed the poem leaving the last word of each sentence off.  The kids were probably then required to choose rhyming words from a list to make their own story.

  3. she heard this from another child..she did not make that up

  4. how old is she? not many really young kids would even know what a trolley car is.
