  1. Kari M is right.. unless you're  doing speed events.. leave it at home... unless you really need it.. which in that case means you probably dont have the cinch tight enough.

so unless you're doing speed.. leave it at home.

  2. check with your 4-h leader,   he/she will know what is or is not allowed,  Also your co-op extention office should have a website that you can download the project book for horsemanship with all the rules for your areas shows.

  3. In western pleasure you cannot have a strap that goes over the neck to keep the breast collar in place.  That would be acceptable for barrels/gymkhana - but not western pleasure.  Just to confirm though - breast collars typically connect on both sides of the horses shoulders to the saddle and also between the front legs.  Also - for the most part - breat collars aren't in style right now for western pleasure classes.  Unless you need one to keep your saddle in place - I'd skip it and leave it at home.  Best wishes!

  4. I would allow it.  It is a breast collar that was made years ago.  Go ahead and use it if you must.

You might check with your 4-H show advisor for confirmation.

Some horses are bothered by extra equipment and would perform much better without.  However, you will have make that determination.
