Does anybody know any good websites that explain college minors in-depth? I have my major selected, but I need to know what minors will help me get to the career I desire. How important are minors? Could I get a job if I minored in a subject without majoring in it? Any info is appreciated!

  1. Hi, I've listed some info sites below. I would suggest choosing a minor(s) that are closely related to your major, but more specialized.

Minors are more about learning and less about the title - I don't think employers highly regard your diploma saying 'minor in such-and-such', but they do value the knowledge you have gained from that area.

I can't say for sure that you would get a job in an area that you didn't minor in... you might if there is a really low supply of people with the qualifications needed.

    Anyways, good luck!

  2. some people select minors that have absolutley nothing to do with their majors. others choose accordingly to their majors. if your major is as broad as, for example, business administration, i would suggest minoring in something like marketing, finance, economics, etc. something that has to do with your major. BUT if you dont want to, you certainly dont have to. if you major in something like biology, you can really minor in whatever you want. but you also can minor in something related to biology. its really all up to you. minoring in something related to your major would be very helpful in my opinion, but not all people do that and they turn out just fine.

  3. To be honest with you a minor is not important at all.  I don't even have a minor and I'm about to graduate in 1 1/2 semesters.  Take what you want to take.  Best of luck!

  4. This is how important it is:  it isn't listed on your diploma so no one will ever know.

    How that helps...lol.
