I have created a 3D Extrude & Bevel Effect on outlined text. Whenever I try to copy and paste the 3D'ed text into another document, I lose the effect and it just becomes flattened text. Is there a way that I can somehow flatten the effect but still keep the vector scalability?

  1. Use the Expand option under the Object menu.

  2. you have to export the image and save it as a jpeg...that way you can move the image and it won't interrupt the 3D object

  3. Some types of files won't support vector formats.  So it may depend on what application the other document is in.

Something you can try is to convert your text into curves.  When this is done, it is no longer editible text, but it is scaleable vectors.
