A question about ovulation test kits?

Question

You know how they say you ovulate 14 days from the first day of your period.

Well I just wanted to know what day you ovulate on if you have taken ovulation tests.

Just want to know how accurate the 14 day thing is.

I used them a lot, and they all aid that I was not Ovulating. Luckily I went for it anyway and I got my BFP two weeks later.

I bought a clearblue easy fertility monitor, and even though we've been using if for a few months and havent gotten pregnant, i think it works great. its very accurate at determining when you ovulate. i highly recommend it (buy one from ebay, it will be much cheaper!).  i have to see a specialist though, and i think it may be a tubal blackage bc i have been pregnant before (son who is almost 3!) so, yes, buy one. follow the directions, and good luck!

* the 14 day thing is NOT accurate. every woman has a different cycle, and even if its regular, doesnt mean youre ovulating around day 14.

honestly, it's not THAT accurate.  your ovulation day can change for any reason without notice.  The whole "14 day" timeframe gives you a general idea of your fertile period if you have a normal 28 day cycle.  i've been using the test kits for 4 months and my ovulation day has changed as much as 6 days from one month to the next.  Start using the kit 10 days after your period starts.  Once you get your positive result, you can expect to ovulate anywhere from 12-36 hours after.  Learn to read your body's signals (specially your cervical mucus), your body is your best tool.

It depends on the length of your cycle.  You should ovulate 14 days before your period is due to begin, so if you have an average 28 day cycle, then CD14 would prob be correct.  But everybody is different.  Calculate your average cycle length and work it out from that.

well, depends on ur cycle and u ovulate on different days each month. One month it was day 12 for me, once it was day 11, once day 13... so use an ovulation kit (the digital one is better as its more accurate to read). if your period is 26 - 28 days, you should definitely start testing around day 9.

in terms of getting a positive, you wont get a positive until after a week after you ovulate as the fertilised egg would not have attached itself to the womb. also, do you get any symptoms that tell you your period is coming?
