From news stories and other bits and pieces I've noticed over the last year or two, including the 'accidental' nuke transport story last year, I'm tempted to think there is a quiet rebellion going on in the Pentagon against the White House. An under-the -radar palace revolt with top career military brass flat-out refusing Executive branch directives. CentCom Commander Fallon famously said that an attack on Iran wouldn't happen on 'His watch', an amazing statement for a serving officer. He soon retired, almost certainly under White House pressure. Other top military commanders have been outspoken on Admin. policy to a level I've never seen. Carrier groups are now gathering in the Gulf. Could a command to attack Iran lead to open rebellion, or has the revolt been crushed?
