i think this is the 3rd time i ask about trip to HK...hehe well, before it was a plan but now its settled. i will go to HK on mid-Sept with my friends, and we will stay at JJ Hotel Wanchai for abut 5 nights. We're planning to go to Victoria Peak, Ocean Park, Disneyland, any kinda markets, and we really wanna explore every unique place in HK. i was told that HK is a small place that we can explore it easily. well, what i wanna ask you is about any other places that you may recommend for us, other than tourism spot? since we have 6 days to explore HK before heading to Macau. and in Macau, is it worth to go to Fisherman's Wharf and Senado Square? where can i find the BEST egg tart in Macau?

Thank you before

xoxo

  1. One of the best ways to drink in Hong Kong is to have a walk around all the bars first and have a look which ones are doing special offers and what time they run Happy Hour. Most bars have a Happy Hour, which is a cost effective way to drink. Also keep in mind the races on a Wednesday night at Happy Valley race course, you only pay $10 for entry and pay around $100 for a jug of beer. Also Wednesday nights is ladies night, during which many bars in Wan Chai give free drinks to the ladies.

Ned Kelly's Last Stand A really good bar to go for pre-partying. Located on Ashley road parallel to the famous Nathan road on Kowloon side, it's an Australian themed jazz bar with great food and good live music almost every night starting at 21-22, which is about when the happy hour ends. The place is laid out with long tables where total strangers can sit together, it's quite big with the frequent visitors to Hong Kong such as travelling businessmen and the art-community.

Sticky Fingers The awesomest place around? Who knows, but its a nice place to get some women and listen to a great house-band play live rock music on stage. The drinks are pretty good too.

Knutsford Terrace is a popular drinking and dining spot in Kowloon but there are many other places in and around Tsim Sha Tsui. Some of them can get pretty expensive though - up to 50HK$ for a drink in some places.

Joe Bananas A wonderful place located on Lockhart road, where the drinks are friendly and the women are cheap (or was it the other way around?).

Skitz Sports Bar A bar with a good selection of drinks with 2 pool tables, darts and large selection of sports on big screens.

Armani Bar A more upscale bar with great house music in a trendy indoor setting as well as an outdoor section.

Red Bar A mostly outdoor bar at the top of the IFC building (in Central) that usually hosts big events such as on New Years Eve and more.

Blues by the Bay Located on the Avenue of the Stars one would tend to have a drink there while watching the Symphonie of Lights. But the drinks and cocktails in this bar can not be recommended, since the quantities are very small compared to what you would expect for the price.

  2. The Big Buddha is on Lantau. Don't go on the weekend

If you want to explore some of the older parts of Hong Kong Island you can follow Hollywood Road to the very end. Then turn left into Queens Road West and explore all the side roads.

If you follow Queens road to the very end it will bring you to the harbour side. Turn left again towards Kennedy Town. If your feet are not tired you can walk through Kennedy Town and up the hill on the left there is a path that will lead you up to Mount Davis.

There are some old WW2 gun placements on the way and a nice view over the Western approach

  3. if they have the same as in mainland china then KFC is dead set winner!!

    surprisingly best egg tarts ever..

also there is a giant buddah to see in hong kong (not sure what its called) you should read lonely planet, and if you have time you should cross the border and go shopping in shenzen, china

  4. ok, if u r stayin in Wanchai.... it's convenience to go elsewhere. shopping district nearby Wanchai wil be Causeway Bay. u can take either taxi US$4 / our traditional tram US$0.3 per person / MTR (tube) US$0.5 per person. the ctr of Causeway Bay wil be the Sogo Dept Store.  http://www.sogo.com.hk/tc/company_info/s...

another other shopping district = Tsim Sha Tsui. our biggest mall is there..... Harbour City. http://www.harbourcity.com.hk/

we hv 2 street's markets....i'll only recommend u to go Ladies Market & Temple Street. what Goldfish Street? is 4 locals..... no need to go. http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/shop...

n goto the countryside in 1 day......u can visit the giant buddha & an outlets mall on the same day as they r close to @ other. just take MTR to a terminal Tung Chung station fr Wanchai. then shift a cable car there to the buddha. oh! the outlets mall is rite next to the Tung Chung station anyway.

another must-see place = Stanley Market. take a bus fr the Central Bus Terminal & enjoy some lovely scenery on the way. fr Wanchai to Central, just 2 MTR stops. then u headed out at exit B1. find the bus terminal which rite down at a hugh bldg named Exchange Square. take the bus route no. 6 to Stanley. it's terminal to terminal so u won't lost ur way.

try to visit the last fishing village in HK. it's located near the buddha side but i think u can't use 1 day to travel all the spots there. better use 1 day (not including evening time) to visit Tai O. i personally like it so much 2. u can take MTR to Tung Chung again & shift a bus.
