AFL question!?

On the grounds now at the 50m line they have 150 written on the ground.

Does anyone know why this is?

YEah, for the 150th Anniversary - I also thought that 50m is approximately 150 feet (a bit more, but still)

It the 150th year of football. That's why we had the Hall of Fame Tribute Match and other celebrations.

The afl this year is celebrating the 150th year of Australian football elague, therfore they have writtin 150m at the 50 metre line... i think it has confused many people!!! Lol

The 150 is symbolic of 150 years of Australian Rules Football. Not to be confused, the AFL/VFL hasn't been running for 150 years, but it has been 150 years since Aussie Rules was introduced as a sport. The reason for the introduction of Aussie Rules was so that the men had something to do when it wasn't cricket season.

It is also the 150 year anniversary of the Melbourne Football Club, which leads me to beleieve that they must have played inter-club matches, unless the University side was around back then.

This year the AFL celebratesit's 150th year of football, so they just put a spin on the 50m arc. Made me look twice the first time i saw it
