NIssan Altima because it has 175 hp and the Toyota Corolla only has 132 hp,and if you get a hybrid altima it has a 198 hp engine.

I do believe the prior answers to this question were too simplistic in their approaches.  It all depends on what matters most to you.  Realistically, both are great cars.  For a person looking for an overall lowest total cost, the Corolla is the winner, however, for someone seeking to obtain a larger car, the Altima is better.  For myself, I'm a single guy, and don't need a large car, and value lowest total cost of ownership, so I'd choose the Corolla.  If I had a family, and it was a primary car, I'd choose Altima.  As a second car, or a long commuting car, the Corolla delivers with its great fuel economy.  your call, but I shop with my wallet, and choose what will cost me least overall - and so Corolla is my winner.
