  1. Simple answer out of those four: SONY. I've had many great experiences with Sony receivers. For anything higher end, go with Denon.

  2. Sony STRDG710B

  3. Get a Yamaha receiver, you'll be much happier.

Denon and Onkyo are good as well. All 4 that you stated in your question are good and prolly at the same level, but are so so with sound quality. Yamaha receivers are not that expensive either. What you wanna look for is the lowest THD (total harmonic distortion) percentage. It should be stated in the specifications. Also, unless you have good speakers, you can buy any receiver you want, it will make a little difference, but starting off with a yamaha receiver is a good idea so that when you do get good speakers later on, you'll enjoy them.

    Good luck  :)

  4. Stay away from Sony, unless it is their "ES" line. They are toys. Lg, Panasonic, JVC, would be O.K. for your bedroom or garage. A great brand to look at / listen to is YAMAHA. Look for the RXV series, or the HTR series. Even the inexpensive ones will be high current, true RMS wattage receivers. Another good one for the budget minded is DENON. And make sure you connect it to a good surge protector. As a matter of fact, everything in your surround system, even the TV and cable box or satellite receiver should be plugged into surge protection.
