AVG - Virus Vault question?

When AVG picks up a virus and puts it in the Virus Vault, what should I do then? There's an option to delete viruses from the vault - do I want to do that? Cheers.

  1. I delete them, never causes me a problem. I can't think of a good reason to leave them there, although maybe someone will tell me there is one.

  2. Be careful about deleting things from the vault - check first to see what it is because AVG seems to have been getting a lot of false positives lately.  I've had a couple of programs removed.  Admittedly one of them was for dealing with lost passwords that I downloaded to help a friend (downloaded from Major Geeks - I don't trust just any old place) but it was a safe program and the other one shouldn't have been removed either.

This isn't a go at AVG either - all anti-virus programs will get false positives from time to time and sometimes they seem to go through a phase of regular ones.  Must be a reason but I don't know it.

  3. I would recommend leaving any found viruses in the Virus Vault.

Reason being that viruses that go into the vault are encrypted and thus very safe.

One would have more reasons to be worried if they virus is instead deleted.

The Deleter as i would guess is most probably not a shredder.

Data's that are not shredded have a possibility to be recovered and that the virus might re-create itself.

  4. It is a locked storage area which stops any infected files from getting at the system. It is used in case the file is still required, and gives the opportunity to repair it later and return it to it's original location. Very rarely needed, but I generally leave them there for about 2 weeks just in case, then remove then
