Can one of you knowledgeable followers of AFL please give me an answer to why the umpires now yell 'play on' after a bounce down or boundary throw in?One does not have to be Einstein to work out that it is not a mark if a player takes possession of the ball after the bounce or throw in. The ump yells play on every occasion. I fail to see the need to do so.It's not as though it is the nippers & the ump also assists with a bit of coaching as well. Now that umps are wired up for sound it does become a bit annoying (to me anyway) with this continual calling of 'play on'. Sureley the players don't need to be told!
