About buying a stock....?

I don't know ANYTHING about buying a stock, all I know is that it can make you some money if things are going good or cost me if things are bad. And I would prefer to do everything online. Is it possible to buy a stock in Disney for my kids? How would I go about doing that?

  1. Pick the best stock broker, one with low fees.., it took me some time to see that most of my gains were lost to the fees i paid to actually buy stock and sell it, i suggest zecco, and they are the ONLY ones who offer free stock trades and no minumums. they have a great beginner status and will show you how to buy that stock in disney you desire!

  2. Be careful, use only high risk capital when you are sheerly speculating...what this means is buy only with money you can loose when you don't know what you are doing.

Sorry if this sounds severe, but this might save you a little.  Etrade and scott trade are easy to use to buy stock.

They have tutorials that you can watch and you can also call them to walk you through a trade.

Good luck with your purchase.  Yahoo finance also has info on Disney.

  3. Check their website, I think they have a special program for kids investments.  They will send a copy of a share which I've heard is cool.

  4. Go to Disney's website and check under investor relations. Some of the large companies like Disney will allow direct purchase and they issue cool looking stock certificates for the kids.

  5. If you are only interested in purchasing Disney stock, you can buy directly from them through their dividend reinvestment program (DRIP).  For more information, you can visit their website here: http://corporate.disney.go.com/investors...

However, if you are interested in purchasing other stocks as well, I would suggest that you open an account an online discount brokerage.  I would actually prefer this method because I find it easier to purchase stock through a brokerage than directly through a company.  I currently use Firstrade http://www.firstrade.com/.  They are relatively cheap and have an easy to use interface.  You should definitely check them out.

I would not recommend using Zecco.  Even though they offer 10 free trades per month, that is only if you deposit a minimum of $2,500.  In addition, their website is very difficult to use and not to mention they are also rated for having the worst customer service.
