Question:

About how much do contacts run?

I have Medicaid to supplement my insurance because I don't have dental/vision coverage. I have glasses but I can't wear them all the time.

I'm due for an eye exam and was wondering about how much out-of-pocket it'd cost to buy contacts.

Thanks,

  1. check with one eight hundred contacts. They will need to know what the ;'script' is for you eyes.

  2. It depends on they type you get. Brand, length of time to wear them, ect. Some will run as low as $16-$17/box, but those may be the type that you wear only for a day or 2 weeks...and really, you may only be able to wear certain types of contacts anyway, so you will probably have to talk to your eye doctor about what will work for you.

I wear Focus Night & Day, which are probably on the high end, because you wear them pretty much 24/7 for 30 days straight. Most online retailers would run about $200 for a year supply of these.

But, I paid $120 for a year last time because I looked around a lot and got myself some coupons and rebates.

Most brands have some rebates with them....so that's why it's so hard to tell!

Once you do get a recommendation for brands, try visiondirect.com. In my many hours of research, I found them to be the best priced. (1800contacts.com really isn't priced overly well.)

So, after all that said: you probably need to find out what (and if) you can actually wear first and then you can price them out.
