Question:

About joining the Navy? ?

I was thinking about joining the Navy for the education benefits. I could get up to $155,000 for college, housing, health care, and a salary while in college for a BA. Do you think that this is a good opportunity for a young lady?

Also, since I would be a new officer... what would be the base pay be?

Can you go in as an officer and become a (K9) MA or would that be stupid?

Would Aviation be better and what is the likelihood of ever flying a jet?

Any answers would be appreciated!

  1. That is a great opportunity!  Go for it, as far as what to do, well that depends on your personality.

Flying a jet for the Navy is a very difficult job to obtain, not saying you can't do it, just saying you will have to dedicate ALL of your time and energy.

  2. The real way to get these answers is from the officer program recruiter in your area. MA, is an enlisted rating, not what Commissioned Officers do. take advantage of the Navy, it offers great enlisted and officer opportunities.

  3. Well, don't expect Mccain to help you, he voted against helping vets and the g.i. bill that expants aid to those who serve. he screwd me.

  4. There's a miniseries called "Carrier" that played on PBS about 6 months ago.  It gives you a real inside view of what being deployed on an Aircraft Carrier would be like.  While it's not representative of the entire Navy, it gives you a good idea of what life would be like and how women are treated in the Navy.

You really should watch it before you sign up.
