About my sons shots?

On Monday I got two of my 15m olds shots. The dtp and pnemenuccocal (sp). One on each leg. The first day he was fine. Now for the past couple days, on one leg its kinda swollen and a good size knot in his leg. The second day he was favoring the leg but now he can walk and run fine. But his sleep has also been messed up this week terribly. Is this all shot related? Should I be concerned about the knot in his leg? I would have thought it should've gone down by now. Its been since Mon.

  1. whenever my son has gotten shots and they have a bump under them i havent been too overally worried, unless he also has a fever with the swelling...but when in doubt ask his pediatrician and it has been since monday...go ahead and call

  2. I would definitely have your doctor look at the knot on his leg.  His sleep might be messed up because he's rolling over onto the sore spot and waking himself up.

  3. My son did the same thing. Its normal and he will get back on his sleep schedule as the bump lessens. Its common for them to get bumps from shots and you should give him tylenol for it at least for as long as you think he is feeling sore.

But if by monday he is still bothered, then you should get him in to see a doctor. If he is having a reaction to the shot, then the doctor needs to know. I doubt that, though because if he had a reaction it would have been more symptoms.

Check and monitor for fever or any signs of rashes or patches anywhere. If you notice anything out of the ordinary then it needs to be checked. Otherwise he will probably be back to normal in a few days.
