About test scores... :'((?

Question

I arrived in America from France when i was in 7th grade, don't get me wrong, i am fluent in English as well as 6 other languages since my family was nomadic and very multi-cultural...

Anyways, when i came to America, i scored pretty low on 7th and 8th grade standardized tests. Now i'm an incoming 9th grader and wondering if it will come to haunt me in cases like applying to Academic Talent programs to further my intellectual pursuits (Stanford Educational Program for Gifted Youth or Berkeley's ATDP) etc.

The last quarters of my middle school was amazing, i "blossomed" and got 4.0's all the way to the end.

Currently i am taking advanced classes during summer at UCLA...

So my question is, Will my old test results haunt me in applying to academic programs? When applying to these programs what test scores do i show?

Not likely because those tests are there to grade the schools on their ability to teach the basics. In fact after Obama is elected I expect they will be changed or done away with. They are a bad idea because they only teach children to take the test. Basicly to do tricks not educate. Educated people learn far more than the basics. The fact you have lived in several countries and speak several languages is more important.

The standardized tests don't count for anything! They're for the gov't to rate your school...

You school grades and personality and really what count the most when applying to something at that point. If you're averaging a 4.0 then you should be able to pursue anything you want.

Your last test results are important, not those from somewhere in the middle.

h**l no! Colleges don't even care about what you do before high school! Just keep up the good work throughout high school (focusing on the 10th and especially 11th grade), do well on the SAT, have some good extra-curriculars in there, have a passion and you'll be fine.

Your nomadic traveling stories would be GREAT to put in your admissions letter. Seriously, it's gold.

You're in better shape than pretty much anyone who answers this question was at your age.  Don't worry about it, nothing before highschool will affect the way college's look at you.

I honestly don't think it will. When you go to high school its almost like like you get a fresh new start.  Unless you live I'm New York where you have to take tests to get in to colleges like Cornell. I severely dint think that it will hurt your chances at getting into college just make sure you do great in high school and ACT. I am not for sure about the talent programs though you can already apply for scholarships with that great 4.0 you have. Good luck with all that you do. higher level institutions such as colleges/universities/grad schools don't give a flying f*** about what you did in 7th and 8th grades... they really only look at the school you were at before applying there.... i.e. College/university only looks at high school, and grad school only really cares how you did in college.'

Nope! Middle school doesn't count on record. 9th grade is the whammy.

they will prbly ask u what was up, but since u had just moved to a new country and stuff, they probly wont give u 2 hard a time. :)
