  1. The most famous Schlumpf's that I know were two eccentric brothers that lived in Mulhouse in France, here's a Wiki site about them:

  2. Schlumpf seems to be a German-Swiss name, although there are also English and Welsh connections.  Most likely the surname came from the German Swiss and people moved around. Happens all the time.  If you wish to know more about your heritage, you could start with a simple paper genealogy and write down all you know about your family.  Things like names and dates are important, but also information like oral history and family stories.  These are all a part of who we are and where we came from.  Once you have done this start looking for people you don't know about. The best thing to do is join a group like the surname groups at Rootsweb.com.  They are free and have a lot of people interested in the same surnames you are interested in.  They can be a big help sometimes!

    Happy hunting!
