  1. It's not your fault dear. We all make mistakes! The most you can do is watch out and do your best. You should feel proud that you are a vegetarian and that you are making an effort to do what you think is right. (and pertaining to John W answer there are many types of vegetarian some eat eggs (ovo vegetarian), some eat dairy products (locto vegetarian), some eat both (locto ovo vegetarian), some eat sea food(pescatarias "vegetarian"), and some don't eat any animal products at all (vegans) )

  2. I'm a vegetarian for health reasons, and this sort of this has happened to me before, too.

Awhile back, my boss bought me one of those artichoke egg souffles from Panera, and they accidentally gave her one with meat in it. I had bitten into it before I discovered the meat, and I felt so gross afterwards! I kept belching up grease (from the physical standpoint) and re-brushing my teeth (from the mental standpoint)! But both sensations eventually subsided, and I got on with my life after a bit.

It's one of those things that can happen every so often, even when you and everyone around you is careful about what you eat. It stinks to know you've done that to your body after so many years of treating it well, and it's kind of gross to think you've bitten into animal flesh. But you move on and hope it doesn't happen again any time soon.

  3. i feel your pain.....

i used to eat a certain brand of yogurt every day and never thought to check it after going veg....a couple of weeks into it i read the ingredients and it had gelatin in it!  it made me sick to my stomach, and i felt really bad about it afterward.

what it comes down to though is that we're all imperfect and we will all make mistakes....don't beat yourself up over it.  being a vegetarian is about doing your best, not never making a mistake.  if you ordered it and ate it knowing that it had meat in it then you would have a reason to feel guilty....but if you simply didn't know any better then it was an accident....cut yourself some slack.

it's happened to all of us....don't worry.  just start fresh today! =)

  4. Well, now you know why you thought the southwest egg rolls were so tasty!

  5. i've had a few similar experiences, unfortunately. it makes me feel pretty much how you felt.

  6. Guess what my dear, eggs are meat too. They come out of chickens you know.  If they are fertilized before they are laid and then the hen sits on them, they can even hatch into baby chicks.  My gosh, I bet you are dead by tomarrow morning!  Just kidding ;)

Relax, I grew up eating meat two, some times three meals a day and I am very healthy.  It won't kill you.

  7. Ok, that isn't really good, but you're not going to die. I know how you feel, because a few weeks ago my mom bought this veggie rolls and told me how good there were. I bit in and realised it had turky in it and spit it in the garbage right away. Even after that my mouth felt "dirty"

  8. It wont kill you. But in future try not to eat eggs or cheese or dairy try soy its better for you

  9. I have been a solid vegetarian since birth.  Once when I was in high school, my friend ordered a beef chilli burrito and I ordered a bean burrito.  A piece of her beef must have gone on my burrito (this taught me a lesson on how to order SEPARATELY from friends who aren't veggie) and I ate a small piece of my burrito and noticed the taste right away. I spit out my piece and ran to the bathroom to disinfect my mouth.  No matter how much gargling I did or tongue brushing, I still felt gross and guilty.

Another incident I faced was when I went to another restaurant with friends and they ordered their non-veg meals and I ordered a vegan pizza.  I dunno how or why but there was a mysterious piece of something or another on one of my slices.  I asked my friends if it was meat and I confirmed it with the waitress and it was a piece of corned beef next to a tomato piece and I got a new pizza.  This taught me to study EVERYTHING CAREFULLY that I eat outside of my home.

The guilt fades over time but the memory of it taught me an important lesson.  Let this be a life lesson to you as a vegetarian and ALWAYS find out the ingrediants of foods at restaurants and foods you buy for the home.  Even simple soups are made out of chicken broth or there are "veggie" stir fries that use lard!  Be VERY careful.  We live in a non-veg world, where we are the minority.  But it is up to *us* to make the wise choices.

My advice to you is to use this experience to better educate yourself on what you're really putting inside your body.  I don't mean to make you paranoid on what you're eating but just to make you aware on what you could be eating.  Again, the guilty feeling will go away with time but the experience will remain in your mind as it has (I'm sure) taught you an important lesson on vegetarian eating.

  10. accidents happen, don't beat yourself up.

become a pro at checking labels and asking whats in something if you don't know.

i accidentally had meat in something i ate at a china buffet and i was horribly sick for the next day or so.

hopefully it doens't affect you that way.

  11. It's good to have good intention, but remember you are a living animal that needs to eat to live. Use this as a opportunity to learn from it without guilt. Your health should be first before any planned diet.

  12. Run child!

Before the vegan and vege munchers burn you.

  13. You should read the menu before you order... it says in the description that the Southwest Egg Rolls are made with chicken, right there in black and white.  It's not hard.

  14. Well eating eggs supports the chicken meat industry so you may as well just eat the chicken.

The hens that lay the eggs end up being slaughtered for meat.  The male chicks at the hatcheries are killed, sometimes in gruesome ways.

If you are buying and consuming eggs you are sentencing innocent animals to a miserable life and horrific deaths in slaughterhouses.
