Achievements or Acomplishments of U.N. ,?

what are they? What are their Achievements for the past 20 YEARS?

(Please Even Though that U.N. Did something wrong still pls help me win againts my classmate. This is not an International so dont worry people^_^)

The UN was able to be used by the United States to advance its interests in many countries.

In conjunction with other organizations such as the Red Cross, the UN provides food, drinking water, shelter and other humanitarian services to populaces suffering from famine, displaced by war, or afflicted by other disasters. Major humanitarian branches of the UN are the World Food Programme (which helps feed more than 100 million people a year in 80 countries), the office of the High Commissioner for Refugees with projects in over 116 countries, as well as peacekeeping projects in over 24 countries.

I would say the only thing that the U.N. is any good at is feeding the hungry and helping fight disease in certain parts of the world.  The Cold War avoided becoming WW III because both East and West had an interest in not having their nations wiped off the face of the earth, the U.N. only served to help Each side more easily pressure the smaller nations of the world to pick sides.

So, Humanitarian Service, and the actual ability of the U.N. to do anything good for the world ends there.

They have done much, but acheived virtually nothing.

Acheivement is a permanent thing -- the UN just flaps around like an ineffectual mother hen.

How different would the world be if the UN never existed? Not much - that is how you can judge what they have acheived.

The USA refused to join the league of nations and the result was WW2

The UN has been a huge success because viewed historically the last 50 years has been peaceful
