Question:

Achilles Tendon Pain?

I run cross country and and Wednesday we had a hill workout and because I was late to practice I stretched very little.

On thursday, we did a five mile run. Before the run my achilles tendon area was feeling kind of tight/ a little sore, but I just figured it was because i did a work out the day before. After the run it was very sore and when i point my toes to my head part of it bulges out of my leg an inch or two above my ankle. I went home and iced.

On friday, I told my coach and it was still bulging, so he had me take the day off. It produced mild pain when I walked or ran. I went home and iced it for the rest of the day (about 5 hours).

Today, I went for a slow five mile run, and it went from moderate pain to slight discomfort and by the end I could barely feel it. I stretched for an extra long time afterwords.

The bulge has gotten smaller, also and I am icing it now. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be, or how I should go about training with it?

  1. I am having somewhat of the same issue. My right achilles statred hurting. Stretching would help a little bit, but once i started running it would losen up after about a half mile. My doctor said it may be tendonitis and reccomened i go to a sports therapist. Due to money concerns i havent yet but it has antually gotten a little better on it own. I would agree that you should get it checked out tho

  2. GO TO A DOCTOR NOW. THE LAST THING ANY ATHLETE WANTS IS TO HAVE A RIPPED ACHILLES TENDON. TRUST ME, GO TO A DOCTOR, UNLESS U WANNA SPEND A WHOLE LOT OF TIME IN A WHEEL CHAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
