My sister and her husband are going away for their second honeymoon for two weeks. They're having their eleven year old stay with his friend so he can contunie to go to camp and they have asked my husband and I to watch their 2 year old daughter.

Now we've watched her before but not for two weeks! Can someone please give us ideas on activites? We have a pool and she loves to swim and we have a swingset and slide in our backyard. But we also need activities for rainy days. She likes dolls and dress up and baking.

What are some activites we can do? Thanks in advance!

  1. My daughter is 21 months old and she loves anything to do with arts and crafts...like painting, coloring, markers..i've made her play doh with an easy recipe I found online and we use inexpensive cookie cutters and make shapes (she might like to actually make the play doh herself) . She also loves tea parties with her animals and legos. Kids that age are easily entertained, I wouldn't worry too much. You could give my daughter a paper towel roll and she'll amuse herself with that for a little while....lol.

  2. Well let me tell you, those two weeks will NOT be boring! I have a 16 month old and she loves those things too!

    For outside:

    .Swimming

    .Swing

    .Relay races

.Water slide(this is really fun, spray water onto the slide and have her go down it! It's like a water park!)

    .Take walks

    .Have a scavandger hunt

    Inside:

    .Bake cookies and sweets

    .Play dress up

    .Play with barbies

    .Color

    .Play Dough

.Make cards for her brother and parents

    .Watch TV(not too much though!)

    .Make a fort

Also, let her do what she wants. Ask her and her parents what she likes do and what her schedule's like. She's probably still taking naps, so stick to her nap schedule and bedtime ritual. Read a lot.

    You'll have tons of fun!

  3. You can do a lot with a two year old.  You can go for walks. Find a story hour. Play at the park.  Take her swimming.  Let her help you when you make dinner or a cake.  Play dolls with her.  Let her draw or color. You can read books.  Take her to the mall if it to hot to walk around. I have a 2 year old and a 10 and 12 year old.  I hope that this will help you out.  Don't forget she will be down for at least one nap which will free up 2 hours and bed time is about 8:00pm and should get up at about 7:00am.  Don't forget bath time and bed time routines.  I hope that this did help you out!

  4. Just keep her physically active... try a beach (if you live near one), or a park with swings and slides. They should give you some indoor activities - because they obviously know what she likes best! (books, games, toys, etc).

The more physically active she is, the less likely she'll cause any trouble, and will likely just sleep and be relaxed a lot.

  5. Freeze tag, coloring, hide and go seek, visiting the beach, art crafts (look some up), "Olly Olly Oxenfree", painting (washable), dancing, family movie

  6. Just keep her moving!  The more exercise she gets, the easier it'll be on you.  Give her some pots and pans to bang on--my two-year old loves that!  Blocks are big, more knocking them down than building, but that's OK!  He also loves to be read to.  He "helps" cook dinner.

Just follow her lead and have fun!

  7. It seem that you have some of them covered ( pool, dress up, swing) I would suggest a chart with some activities she likes to do. Get some play dough, coloring books and crayons for a rainy day. Also have a movie day if she can go to the movies or rent.  If you have a zoo around, the mall or a local beach or park that would be good. As long as she sees you are involved and participating with her I am sure you would not have a problem. Make a schedule that way you keep her busy and she knows what to expect. Good luck.

  8. Outside:

    go swimming

    play on the swings

    take her to the beach/lake

    play tag

    play hide and go seek

    take her to a park

    to the zoo

    Inside:

    play dressup

    play restruant

    make a collage

    make a macaroni necklace

make a "card" for her mom and dad

    play playdough

    read to her

    build a fort

She should still be napping which is good, she also may like children's TV shows, ask her what she wants to do usually at this age they can almost entertain themselves. I babysit my 2yo sister for 9 hours a day 2 days a week and it's really fun she loves crafts though they don't keep her entertained for very long adn she loves her dollies!
