I know how to install add-on aircraft, but what about add-on textures for the original fsx aircraft? I have no clue.

  1. Go under your Flight Simulator X folder and find the other folder saying SimObjects. You will see anothoer folder saying aircraft or airplanes or something like that. (I have FS9, but i know what to do.) Once you open the aircraft folder, find the folder of the default aircraft, for instance the 737-800. After openning it, you will find more folders. FOLDERS FOLDERS FOLDERS! One of these folders has to say Texture.1 or texture.(something). Open that folder, and place the new textures in there. GOOD LUCK!

    I hope it helped.

  2. I only have fs2002 and fs2004 but it should be the same. Make sure you back up your textures and aircraft.cfg. Open up the aircraft.cfg and if the download's readme has section that it tells you to copy, (something like fltsim.x, title, etc.) copy that part. Make sure it matches the first part of the cfg you opened up. Now if there's more than one original texture for this plane, there should be a sequence of these things, like fltsim.0, fltsim.1, flghtsim.2, etc. Find the last one, click under it, and make some space, then paste the thing you copied and replace the x in fltsim.x with the next number that follows the sequence of the previous ones. Following the example I gave above, you would put fltsim.3. Then just follow the download's readme on getting the textures in the game. It's easy. If this doesn't work, just look for tutorials on this on google.

  3. This is for a southwest plane...

Heading: FSX Southwest 737-800 Textures only

Description: Simi-photo realistic Southwest 737-800 regular colors. Textures only, although detailed instructions on how to install the texture are included in the readme.  SWA Textures by Kc Meyers.

This is the Microsoft B738 repainted   Model by Microsoft   Textures by Kc Meyers

    Install:

    1. Open   Program files/Microsoft games/flightsimulator10/simobjects/airpl...

    2. Take the folder named "texture.swair" and drag it into the b737_800 folder

    3. Open the aircraft CFG file titled "aircraft" located in the b737_800 folder (open this with Notepad, a default windows application)

    4. Scroll down the document.  You will see many things that look like what is below

    5. Once you find the last one of what is below, note what "fltsim." number it is (for example,   [fltsim.8]  ).  If [fltsim.8] were to be the last one, then the one you would put in would titled [fltsim.9] and so on.

    6. Copy and paste what is below into the aircraft CFG right after the last one that is already there following the pattern of the previous ones.

    7. At the top of what is below, you will see "[fltsim.XX]".  You are going to replace the "XX" with the number that is after the last one that was already there.

This is a standard Texture install.  If those directions got confusing, search for other instructions on how to install an aircraft's texture in FSX.
