I recently read that this would help the whites keep white. Is it true or is it just a waste of baking soda? is it bad for clothing?

  1. I use baking soda when i was my white , actually i use it in all my washing even colors because it makes them fresher , but  when i wash my whites i use only 1/2 cup of bleach and 1 cup of baking soda and my whites come out white  instead of yellowish color from the bleach , I can tell a big difference when i do use the baking soda , but everyone has their own opinion and that is mine from the experience that i have had with it and I do recommend using baking soda in the wash

  2. If the yellows is caused by iron, try some Super Iron out.  Chlorine bleach makes whites yellow in high iron water.  This is about all that works........OxyClean helps, but not perfect.

I wasn't impressed enough with baking soda in the wash, maybe because our water is already alkaline........?

  3. Not for sure on making them whiter...but it does make them fresher smelling.

  4. ~~It's never made much of a difference when I used it. What does work very well is to add hydrogen peroxide to your bleach dispenser (I fill the dispenser up), then wash as usual. The best tip also is to double rinse your whites, it really makes a huge difference.~~
