Adding coffee grounds in garden?

Does it make the soil PH go up or down? Is it good for peppers, tomotoes? Should I work it into the soil or just sprinkle it on top?

  1. Too much nitrogen means bushy plants with little fruit.  I use coffee grounds for my roses.  They like acidic soil.
