When adopted kids first come into your home what do you need to get them? Do they have clothes already? What else should be ready for them when they arrive?

  1. i believe most babies come into the world butt @ss naked, so get a baby book or friend to help you get ready, and get shopping.

now might be a good time to ask the agency if they would mind throwing in a brand new car since you're going to be taking in a brand new baby....

    edit:

gee, all the other answers were good enough, i thought i'd just throw a little humor in.  everything doesn't have to be so serious all the time............. *sigh*

  2. EVERYTHING you (just like if you were bringing home a natural child).

I had a room set up, clothes for about a year, dresser, diapers for a few months. The more you  stock up now the more time youll be able to bond with you son/daughter.

Our mistake was buying all of those clothes. We thought aour son was going to be large, but weighed 3lbs. so nothing fit him in the right season. OH well, It was great coming home to a house that was ready.

  3. Anything you would get your child you need to get your child!

If you are adopting an older child, they will most certainly need clothing.  They will probably come with something, but probably not with much as they are coming either from foster care or if you are adopting internationally, they will have little.

  4. You should have a bedroom ready for them, clothes to wear and some toys. Plus the basic necessaities of life.

  5. When you adopt a child, you need anything you would need for any child, you are now responsible for providing it.
