Adoption costs Illinois?

how much does it cost to file adoption papers or whatever in Illinois - my neighbor has guardianship of her granddaughter but needs to adopt her for insurance purposes and I was wondering how much does that whole process cost?

We are in the middle of an adoption in Illinois. Our lawyer only charged us $1020 complete! I was a bit surprised it was so cheap there.

Is the mother of the child going to sign off her rights? If not, it will cost more for the attorney to terminate her rights. Doesn't the granddaughter get medicaid? In my state children that are not living with their bio parents do. Thats been a life saver for us. No copays, covers everything! She might want to check first.
