  1. Your best bet to get a cheaper adoption is to go through non profit agencys. The one I went through was Link Aoption. They tend not to charge huge fees and are more there to help birth mothers find good adoptive families. They also tend to have tons less red tape to go through. Good luck

  2. Contact your state human services for a list of adoption agencies in your area that specialize in older adoptions.  Check on the Internet for your state waiting children's page, they also have resources and even pictures of children who are waiting.  I have two children who were considered older or special needs children, one I got at 7 months, and one at 9 years old.  One has pretty severe handicaps, but I wouldn't trade him for anything.  The other is doing great and is now 16 and well adjusted.  I think that all children deserve a family.  Good luck to you and yours.

  3. Step one is to get a homestudy.  If you don't already have one, use this site to find an available social worker- http://home-study.adoption.com/

Then, 1-try looking through the waiting child photolisting.  You can search by s*x, race, and age. 2-speak to a local agency and they'll be able to match you with a child.

    Best of luck!

  4. I would recommend contacting a reputable adoption agency in your area.  They can best discuss the options available to you to achieve an adoption in the age frame and race that you are looking for.  You can also speak to a local family services program - such as Division of Youth and Family Services or Children & Youth Services in your county.  They will be able to tell if their are children in their program that fit your criteria.

    Good luck to you.

  5. Try for the third and have s*x more frequently during your ovulation period for the sperm of your man are what determines the s*x of the child and less frequent s*x increase the chances of boys... more s*x makes for girls.

  6. Hello, I too am the proud parent of two bio boys (15 & 13) & adopted a girl 2 yrs ago from Hunan China.  My husband is 41 and I am 40.

If you look Internationally then you have options, though a causasion girl is a bit more difficult.  China is mostly girls in adoption.  There are some boys but mostly special needs (cleft lip, cleft palate type of thing).  Our daughter was referred to us at the age of 10 mos, however, by the time our travel group received the US Consulate appointment in China she was 1 year old.  So we received her at just a week after she turned one year.  Most of the girls in our travel group were 11 mos to 19 mos of age & all were healthy.  All of the adoptive parents in our travel group were caucasian.  So China is a country you might consider.  One family's daughter didn't even look Chinese as she had round eyes and fair skin.  Expect International adoptions to take about a year to process, sometimes longer.

Also, another International country to consider is Russia and Ukraine though they were having some difficulties with processing paperwork, and babies from Russia having high case of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.  Things may have changed in the last couple years though.  Kazakhstan is another caucasian country though the in-country time required is really long, 3 weeks I believe if not 30 days.  Also the children referred are 8 mos and older.

Domestically, you're looking at mostly open adoptions.  This is fine for many families, however, it was not the case for us.  I have put some research links in the source section below for you to consider for domestic adoptions.  Mardie Caldwell is a big adoption advocate though mostly open adoptions, her radio talk shows on Sundays are informative, and if you are looking for something specifically then you can search the archives.  Her link is below as well.  Domestic adoptions can take a few months to several years depending on the route you take, and how soon a birth mother chooses your file (open adoption).

Best of luck on your adoption journey!

  7. Contact your local social sevices and start there.

  8. Please be open to other races. Or you can try Russia. Try going to www.childrenshope.com
