1. gefilteadoptions.com is a wholesome agency and has tasty prices.

  2. Although children are priceless...if the cost is too high try looking into foster to adopt through your state. There is no cost to you. You provide a home for a foster child in hopes that you can adopt them. It sounds heart wrenching and it can be the wait seems forever. But we have been blessed with a Caucasian boy and we took him home from the hospital when he was just 3 days old. We love him so much. Since his birth mom has gone "missing" It is so sad for our boy but he needed someone to love him (we had not been entered into the system yet although we were approved) he would have gone to the shelter if we did not open our hearts and our home to him) They need more foster to adopt parents there are so Manny children that just need love that you can give them.

  3. It doesn't cost $ to give a home to a child who needs one. There are thousands of kids who need homes and love.

If you are paying $ you are keeping a $1.4 billion infant adoption industry in business, whose business is to market adoption to vulnerable people to procure babies for waiting customers. Demand outstrips supply; hence the high 'price' If you can do that with a clear conscience, then good luck to you.

You can see from Ted's answer that they even have 'pricelists' according to the most popular commodity. Babies are people and as an adoptee myself it makes me feel sick to see pricetags attached to babies based upon their desireability.

  4. As you look further you will find that those types of agencies are nothing more than baby WalMarts. They are selling babies.

They are brokers of a commodity. The prices are high because of supply and demand alone. There is no way it should be as expensive as it is.

Our private adoption cost less than $1,000. It was expensive because of a few extra legal feesl. We had to track down the biological father and had a few complications with him.

Do the agencies really offer $30,000+ in services above the actual legal adoption? I don't think so. Makes me sick.

  5. Adoption from foster care is relatively low cost, although you won't get that shiny new baybee, and the kid might, you know, need a little extra love and work, but if the price is what you're worried about that's where it's at and those kids deserve homes just as much as any other kid.

  6. If you want to go through a private agency and want a very young child, then you will pay a ton for those options.

If you simply want to parent a child, try foster care....where the children are actually in need of a good home, and not removed from their decent, loving pregnant mothers at birth. You can adopt a fairly young child through foster care...or you can adopt an older child--or any children in between. The more specific you are the longer you will wait...for most adoptions. We requested any child/children who could communicate and bond with us......we paid nothing and welcomed a beautiful, healthy 1 year old into our home.

  7. Are you looking to adopt through foster care or through a white baby agency? Fostercare would be the cheapest and probably not cost more than a few thousand.( and no more then 10k at the most) Through a baby agency your looking at atleast 30k.

  8. You need to be more specific. What type of adoption?

  9. Most adoptions are very expensive. I have seen them range from $12,000 to $35,000. These are agency adoptions. That is why my husband and I are doing an independent adoption (we found our own birthmother). Do lots of research!

  10. It is crazy the amount you pay for adoption. They say it is for "legal" fees ect. I was shocked too. You can adopt through your county and it is free.

  11. When I was looking the cheapest private agency was $21,000.00 ---- Ouch!

We found out by chance --- you can adopt through DHS, go to your local DHS office, adoptions are FREE, they pay for your homestudy and for filling all the court documents. We adopted sisters a 1 year old and a 3 year old. It took us approx. 1 year to adopt them and it was a great experience.

  12. Domestically, it also depends on the race and s*x of the child. An African American baby will be substantially less than a white baby and even less than a biracial child usually. An Hispanic baby could be anywhere between that. You likely won't find any Asian babies from the USA. Girls are also more scarce than boys and will cost more. Sad, but true.

Total cost, including home study and finalization will be $10k to $50k. Average between $15 to $25.
