Adrian Lewis hits the ‘Jackpot’!
Adrian ‘Jackpot’ Lewis finally hit the jackpot and grasped victory against Gary Anderson in a nail biting final match, week 12 of the McCoy’s Premier League Darts in Liverpool. This was a thriller, as it reminded darts fans of last year’s face off between
these darts giants.
Lewis, the reigning two-time PDC World Darts Champion, came in the match strong and focused after embarrassing Phil Taylor in last week’s battle.
Lewis was a little off recently, yet this time he came with a bang.
Gary Anderson, on the other hand, has been a disaster recently and in this tournament as well. He looked dazzled and confused throughout the competition but did manage to pluck a few wins.
This time however, Lewis was Anderson’s opponent, who has defied many players’ luck before.
The stage was set with thousands of fans anticipating the clash of the titans as they went head to head.
Lewis was invincible throughout the rounds and Anderson’s sweaty forehead said plenty. Anderson’s confusion was clearly visible, as his trembling hands did not get him any jackpot. That is the reason why Lewis is called, ‘The Jackpot’.
Lewis was breathtakingly good. It was a compulsion for him to win to keep his title, as the PDC World Darts Champion.
His play was clear and accurate, his precision was a sight in the entire match and his confidence was visible as he overpowered Anderson and ended his streak.
Lewis has been the strongest player in this tournament. Anderson’s recent performance has been average as the statistics clearly depict.
To compare the two on the basis of recent performances strictly would make Lewis the clear winner of the comparison, as his performance has been a mile better than Anderson’s.
Although Lewis has been trembling too, yet his comebacks are always at the right moment.
Going into the past, Anderson’s performance in the 2007 World Darts Trophy is worth mentioning. His win against Phil Taylor was a delight and said a great deal about the man also known as, ‘The Flying Scotsman’.
Yet, an overall review tells that Lewis has a greater margin of being a better player due to his unexpected performances and unbeatable reigns as the world’s number one dart thrower.
According to darts fans however, Phil Taylor remains the top favourite man in the darts universe. For Lewis, his biggest challenge, regarding his invincibility recently will be to take on Taylor and take his throne.
This will not be an easy task by any means. Yet Lewis is known and respected to overcome and overpower situations where he is facing the world's best players.
Phil Taylor, on the other hand, is beyond the world's best, he is the best dart thrower to have ever played this game.
Love him or hate him, Lewis has always given a top notch entertainment package whenever he is facing any opponent.
He has done it all with amazing ease and confidence seen through his game-play and his eyes.
His accuracy and patience is a brutal combo that rocks the world of darts. He is the world number two in the ranking, he may become the world number one by ending Taylor's winning streak.
Only time will speak of these two dart giants facing off and giving the best of the darts universe.
Adrian Lewis is not invincible, not yet at least, but if he guards his throne the way he did against Gary Anderson, he may become one.
