Question:

Advice for a wannabe radio presenter ?

by  |  earlier

I've been presenting on online radio sites from home for around 2 years.

I'd like to move onto bigger and better things.

Can someone give me some real advice.. nothing along the lines of "start out with hospital and student radio, that's great"..

i've heard this a thousand times.

Television and radio presenting are a dream of mine so if anyone could please give me tips and advice on both.

I would be grateful.

  1. your first answer was a great answer, then you said not to put the normal stuff...ok.

get your self down to Granada studios in Manchester,

they take extras on for shows, you mat be a guy in the back ground of a pub eating a bag a crisp  drinking a pint.

you could ride past in the back ground on a push bike in a top soap show,

get your self seen first put on your ap about your on line show, tell them you want to do radio.

Also record your show get as many demos as you can on hard disc and send it to all the radio stations,

use what you can to get what you want.

i started out on CB radio did a slot on pal talk  then went to pirate stations before going legal

    i wish you luck

    regards x kitti x

hear is a good place to start also try blitzing the station with CVs or find out wrea they drink at the station you want and try to make a contact.

  3. Its very hard to get a job as a radio presenter, but just don't give up...if thats what you wanna do, anythings possible if you put your mind to it.

Nowadays its about who you know, so get talking to people

I wish you luck in the future

  4. Sorry but getting experience in hospital radio is still good advice.

You'll need to be willing to work for nothing as a volunteer somewhere first, and then come up with original ideas. Remember radio station mangers want to boost their ratings or attract a specific kind of audience, so try to offer what you know will help the manager get what s/he wants.

I've worked as a radio presenter and producer for seven years, after more than 15 years of being a volunteer. Keep trying.

  5. Try searching for some local community radio stations - this is definitely the next step you should take.

Then, once you've got some experience there, try sending in a demo tape to a bigger station!

    Good luck.
