Question:

Advice on Starting to Draw

Drawing has really interested me. When I was younger I used to make comic strips and stuff. I have attempted to draw "still lifes" and stuff that looks realistic, but I have had little success. I really want to try it agian. But I don't know where to start. Do you guys have any advice as to what I should do for practice? Or what types of things I should start drawing first? Thanks a bunch!

  1. Night school is a good idea you learn to draw at night!

  2. What you need to do is find out yourself.  Maybe your not a realistic artist, but you can always practice to become better.  Sketch around first and warm up a bit.  While sketching you can find out about yourself.  Don't sketch to look good a first.  Let your hands be loose, and flow your pencil or brush whatever your using.  Don't be too stiff.  Just FLOW.

Take an object or a picture of something and turn it upside down. This shuts down the left side of the brain, the logical side, and opens the right creative side of the brain.

Doesn't matter what you draw, right now, just flip through a magazine, or a book of interesting pictures, things you like, and turn it upside down!  You'll be amazed of what you come up with!

    Happy Drawing!
