Affordable insurance plans??

Question

Hello! I am a 21 year old mother of 2 ( a 13 mo. old and a 26. mo. old) My husband and I do not qualify for medicaid (apparently you have to be dang near homeless) and we need health insurance. He has a heart condition (hes 25! ) and I tend to get sick alot! lol

anyone have any ideas for affordable health insurance?? ( under $100 /mo if possible)

do either of you have a full-time job? if you do, can you get insurance through your company? and this is to the guy that answered first: i am 19 (history of stomach problems/ borderline personality disorder/ and several blood disorders), my husband is 22 with stomach problems, and we have a 5 month old baby [and we live in California], our insurance was Cigna (awesome) and it was only $320/mo and our new insurance is Blue Shield PPO for just my husband and i, and it's only $200/mo. it's not NEARLY as bad as he said.

anyway, if you get it through your company they usually don't ask about your medical history and stuff. i've been with four insurances now and only one asked for my medical history and it was a state-insurance (the kind that you have to be homeless to get... it's called "fibbing" that's how you get it.)... anyway, independent insurances are the ones that ask for history. that was my point. your best bet is going through your job. good luck...

No, you won't find a family health plan for $100 per month. A good HMO plan costs over $1200 per month (for a family of 3 or more) in California. The sad state of our nation is that we do not mandate employers to provide health insurance.

Unless you find something through an employer, it is unlikely that you will find something for so little money.  Blue Cross BeneFits are extremely inexpensive, but is still more than $100 a month.

You also get what you pay for.

I strongly encourage you to speak to an independant agent in your area who can sit you down and talk you through your options.  If you are in California, you can call Teague Financial Services.  They have experts that may be able to help you.

Unfortunately, if your husband has a heart condition, and you have a history of getting sick a lot, you guys are going to have a hard time qualifying for health insurance, even if you could find a plan that was around $100/month.
