African grey leg ring?

My friend has just bought a African gray and it has a leg ring, he doesn't know much about the bird and was wondering if you can find out about it from the code on the ring? If you can does anyone know how to?

The ring is for identification.it identifies the breeder the year of birth and it is captive bred,if it is not a split ring,if it is then it could have come from an unknown source.

Depending on which country you live in.The u.k. for example you can contact the Parrot society of the U.K. and they will give you the info that you need.

The only things you can generally learn from a leg band are the name of the breeder, the year the bird was hatched and in what state.

The numbers on it, other than the 2-digit date code, are practically useless for anything but record keeping.

from what i know all that it is for is you can identify that it came from a breeder and that it was born in captivity.
