After connecting the water pump

after connecting the water pump on caravanand turning it on and opening taps the green light stays on .the water then comes out of taps and also gushes out of the drain plug on outside cowl.no red light comes on to tell us there is a fault.could you please tell me what the problem could be and how to fix it many thanks jim.
