After watching Kimbo Slice last night...?

Question

Does anyone else agree with me that he wouldn't last a minute with a contending heavy weight fighter? I don't think he could last a round with a lot of the middle weights in the UFC either... What do you think?

Agree big time. Kimbo was gased after round 1. Thompson (who is on his best night an average fighter) was making Kimbo look over matched. If the match had stayed as a stand up fight (like Lawlers) Kimbo would have finished him, but on the ground Thompson was just the better fighter. Elite XC and Kimbo are both VERY lucky the fight was stopped (a bit early I think) as he was going to be damaged goods if it went to a decision. Kimbo had no business head lining such an important MMA card especially against a relative nobody like Thompson.

I'm not a Kimbo hater, I just feel like he has alot to learn when it comes to submission fighting. He's big, he's strong, he hits like a mule, and he's intimidating as h**l. He's 2 MAJOR weaknesses are a lack of stamina (hit the treadmill big man), and a clear weakness in ground skills.  

He has been fed nobody's and a nobody almost beat him last night. Put him in with a chubby Rico Rodriguez, or Brett Rogers (they had words at the post fight) and I think Kimbo takes a loss.

You've already had controversy in 2 of his fights the stopagge last night and Bo Cantrell Tapping at the first sign of combat.

i agree i was looking forward to the fights and then when i saw it a joke the EXC and everything about last night was embarrassing to watch

Completely agree. That fight was a joke last night, and it certainly exposed Kimbo as a mediocre fighter at best. Never thought I'd say this about an MMA fight, but it seemed fixed.

Despite his questionable abilities, I do really like Kimbo for making the jump to MMA. When he was just a backyard fighter, everyone said any MMA fighter would eat him alive. I think its impressive that he is testing his skills against REAL fighters now.

for now maybe. but he has potentials and he'll get there eventually. i mean the guy just started training in mma compared to these UFC fighters who have been trainning for years now...

I completely agree.  This was only Slice's THIRD fight....it was ridiculous for CBS and Elite XC to try to make him the "main attraction" last night.  He hasn't earned anything yet in MMA circles....he's still a nobody....it's just that he's got all these backyard brawls on YouTube.  As far as being an MMA artist goes though, Slice is a nobody right now.  Any DECENT MMA artist (even from a lighter weight division) would EASILY beat him.

This is only his third fight, what do you expected? James Thompson has the size advantage and he has 20 mma fights to his credit. Given the size and the experience disadvantage, I thought Kimbo did well.

I've been saying that all along. He may appear to hit hard, but doesn't and has no ground game. James is known for having a ridiculously lousy chin, yet Kimbo couldn't knock him out? What gives?

okay i agree with you when you say that kimbo is not ready AT ALL. but to say thompsons an awful fighter? you either dont know what your talking about or your mentally disabled.Thompson almost beat Fujita. do you know who fujita is? he nearly knocked out Fedor in the only fight that fedor actually looked phased. what do i think? i think kimbos not ready but to say thompson sucks is untrue, and to also say that a lot of middlewieghts would beat him is retarded, you realize that kimbo has like 70 lbs on those guys, they would get rocked by his power, the only ufc guys who might last would be slva and henderson, i dont see how you can say ALOT . I think your your misinformed or maybe your very young

also kimbo has pretty bad stamina even though he is a heavyweight he was breathing heavily. i agree that he need to do more wrestling, but common a highschool wrestler? he needs a LOT of work, but again he is better than the average mma fighter for SURE.
