Aggression on UK roads ...... ?

Does anyone feel that people are becoming more aggressive on the roads today? I find more and more that people tailgate so close it is frightening and come at you on the wrong side of the road, almost demanding that you give way. And what about those women in 4x4's on the school run? Are they all on PMT or what? Your experiences please ..........

  1. From what I have read, yes it is but the same is true all over.

  2. yeah, i want to get the 4x4's out of the United States, they are probably the worst invention we have ever come up with while you Brits get to make cars like Lotus and Aston Martin

stuff like whats on my site

  3. I'm a mum myself so I'll begin by saying: some of the worst drivers I've seen are the mums.  They seem to always be running late and drive like lunatics not like a person responsible for the little life/lives in the back seat.  Irresponsible!

But yes, general aggression is a problem...tailgating has gotten so bad (I guess the more experience at tailgating the closer they drive) that now those drivers are so close their headlamps aren't visible.  To say they are too close is to understate the situation.

But what can you do but protect yourself?  I just mind the rules, signal any changes I intend to make (turns especially) and take care of the front of my car...it hasn't always been enough but I can't be responsible for others...only myself.

  4. i do not drive in the uk but been on the roads there. omg ppl are such arrogrant lunes. i blame the grumpy old men and as for the youngsters drugs and for the carjacking joy riders  i blame looney tunes (they sooo young or just ain't grew out of watching it )

  5. Funny how it always gets back to the 'mothers dropping their kids off in a 4X4' moan. So if my wife dares to drop her children off at school in a Subaru Imprezza, or a Suzuki Jimny it's a sin, but no problem if it's a big BMW, a Mercedes etc even though they are much bigger cars. Very strange. Why should the fact a car has 4 wheel drive rather than 2 wheel drive even if it is smaller and uses less fuel make people want to ban them? Sure some are able to go off road, but many aren't, why not ban cars which can do twice the legal speed limit?

  6. its everywere people are not considerate of others in any aspect of life

  7. It's all ME...ME...MEEEEEEE!  isn't it.... everyones always got be somewhere like TODAY!........

4x4 on Uk roads should be banned... i just hate being stuck behind one on the road as you can't see what's ahead, and there are just toooo BIG...this isn't America!

  8. Chelsea tractors on a school run = bad news.!!

Driving standards are falling across the board, and I think it's all down to simple selfish human nature.  No one talks to anyone anymore.  No one cares about anyone else anymore.

  9. I'm not in London long and i find the drivers here totally pig-headed. They have no road courtesy especially for pedrestrians and cyclists. If your a driver, you're waiting 10 mins to get out of a junction, they're either too blind or too selfish.

  10. You got it right with this question. I agree with your points

  11. .

This is strange for me....I have been living in Asia since 1998 and have returned to the UK on 2 occasions - once in 2004 and last year.

I found the driving a considerable improvement, particularily last year.

Previously,i found there was a real tendancy for the vehicle behind to drive too close, but 2004 seemed better and 2007 better still.

When drivers drive too close i correctly increase my distance from the driver in front....back in 1998 it seemed to cause more angst, however it seems my actions did not cause so much anger in 2007.

I put it down to increased awareness of speed, due to improved speed containing measures AND THAT IS GOOD!

Don't react or try to teach others a lesson....control your own environment.

I have no counterpoint in Asia as I race but don't drive on the roads, so only have my observations as a passenger.
