Agree beauty and talent pageant?

Question

Who agrees that parents should encourage their children to join beauty and talent pageant and who doesn't. Give reasons.

(its a title of my essay for english, btw, i disagrees)

I agree because preforming and being onstage gains confidence in young girls/children.

Most pageants arent "beauty" pageants, theyre scholorship pageants because they award prizes, money ect...

I personally think that pageants are a great idea for young girls because they learn poise, presence, confidence ect...

I do pageants myself and it is great.

I think beauty pageants are great ways to encourage young girls to be the best person they can be.  Yet, I also think that certain things about them have the tendency to unintentionally objectify women.  I think if a young girl decided that she wanted to run in a beauty pageant, the parents should be supportive.  I, under no circumstances however, think that it should ever be the parent's choice.  That's just my opinion though.
