Air conditioning overflowing solutions?

Ok, so my a/c unit decieded to make a swimming pool in my hallway, my big sis came to the rescue and we figured out that the drainage pipe was clogged. We used a wet/dry vac to suck as much out as we could, used a wire hanger and bleach and got it flowing smoothly again....or so we thought. today it began over flowing majorly again and we just uncloggd it two days ago. My brother said I should crwl under the unit through the bottom vent and look up to see if coils are dirty :/ I crawled under there :nasty: and everything looks clean....what do I do???? Is there anything else it could be? ANY help would be much appreciated!

  1. The o*****e in the drain pan is very small and clogs up rather easily.Shut the power off, remove the panel, and with a flashlight, get a bird's eye view of where the pvc attaches to the pan and stick your finger in the o*****e and remove the restriction.

Ron G also had it right when he typed compressed air. That is the supreme way of clearing a drain. Good luck.

  2. The pipe is usually blown out with compressed air when it is serviced twice a year.

  3. You need to get a can or canister of compressed air and blow the lines out completely. Check the coils on the evaporator (outside the unit) and make sure they are clean.

  4. DO YOU HAVE THE USE OF AN AIR TANK/BLOW TIP?THE LINE (COND.LINE) CLOGS UP W/LINT AND GUNK PULLED IN BY THE BLOWER MOTOR,REALLY NO WAY AROUND IT,EXCEPT,MAYBE A CONDESATION PUMP,YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE IT INSTALLED,BUT AFTER YOU DO IT WILL PRETTY MUCH TAKE CARE OF YOUR PROBLEM.THE BLACK FOAMY THINGY IS INSULATION FOR LOW SIDE OF THE COND.UNIT DON'T NEED TO SEE THE PIPE ANYWAY,IT JUAT MOVES REFRIGERANT SO YOU WILL STAY COOLTHEY MAKE TABLETS THAT GO INTO THE PAN THAT HOLDS THE WATER,THE TABLET IS SUPPOSED TO DESOLVE THE GUNK&PREVENT THIS KINDA THING FROM HAPPENING,MAY HELP A LITTLE ,BUT WONT STOP IT.AIR PRESSURE REALLY WORKS THE BEST,IF YOU WILL DO THIS ONCE A MONTH(BLOW THE LINE) IT WILL STAY CLEAR,WE ONLY HAVE A COUPLE MORE MONTHS BEFORE WE TURN IT OFF ANYWAY. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE QUESTIONS FOR HEATING SEASON.

  5. put your wet vac over the outlet of the pipe (drain) leaving the bldg again. make sure its pulling all the way from the a/c unit. if there is a stand pipe (drain breather) the vac may just be pulling from there and not all the way from you indoor coil section.

Sometimes you need to vacuum twice because residual loose sludge may have still been in the unit drip pan and flowed over and re- clogged the drain outlet.

  6. you need to check the evaporator pan for any holes, maybe the drain line plug again,i would recheck it ,sound like your doing all the right things, good luck.

  7. I had a similar issue recently which was due to my evaporator coils icing up. My A/C guy told me that's usually a result of low refrigerant pressure. If you turn off the unit for a couple of hours (but leave the blower on), you'll be able to tell if it's ice if it keeps dripping.
