Airbrush compressor?

Any input from anybody is welcome. I have a pasche airbrush. I am ready to purchase a compressor, which compressor is preferred for airbrushing models kits? I am interested in the Iwata smart jet. Thanx, Rob

  1. I actually have had a Paasche 1/4hp compressor for 10 years now and have never had a problem with it.  It's a oilless diaphragm compressor and current cost about $200.

    I checked out the review for the Iwata "Smart Jet" (oilless single piston) in the July copy of "Fine Scale Modeler" magazine. First, it's priced at $340.  They do applaud it's low noise level, and the water-trap.  However they point out that it's got limited pressure in other than short-burst painting.

    Honestly, since I don't work in a high humidity area, I'd skip the "Smart Jet" and stay with a less expensive model... BUT if you have the money... buy and enjoy !!
