Airing Off A Wave?

I need some help to consistently air off a wave this is what I do.

I take off the wave do my bottom turn I pump as much as I can before I see the lip about to curl I hit that section and I kick my tail down halfway off the wave and push my nose down sometimes I air and sometimes I just fall off the back

what am I doing Wrong?

  1. ur weight shift. after your pump to get there and your release you have to not kick as much and lean more on your front like your doing an ollie on a skateboard. you only kick when there is absolutely no curl and your experienced. all you need is a little kick


  2. unweight your lead foot and try and/or different board.  Wider, thinner, and shorter board all help with this (for smaller waves).  In good sized surf you should have plenty of speed.

  3. Sounds like your trying to hard. You need to feel the wave dude. When you turn to climb back up the wave ,you need to make sure you have enough speed. As you climb the wave you dont need to kick down all that hard and as you get to the top if u pull your legs up the board should follow.
