Airplane is flying and you jump...?

will you land back in the same place or land a little further down due to the fact the airplane is moving fast??

  2. Maybe, maybe not. If your plane speeds up or slows down while you are in mid-jump, you will land in a different spot. This is highly unlikely, about as likely as you jumping up and down on a plane. You're liale to get a spanking from the stewardess, which might not be half bad.

  3. You will land in the exact same place because you are moving equally as fast as the plane.

Basic concept of relativity states that it depends on where you are looking from.  From your position you will appear to return to the same position.  From outside the airplane (it's made of clear plastic, like the one Wonder Woman flies, okay), you would appear to follow a curved path moving forward as the airplane moves.

    It's called "special relativity."

  5. if you stay in the plane you land in the same spot, if you jump out you land on the ground a little farther from where you jumped

  6. The answer depends on what is a "little further down", in other words, the frame of reference. If the airplane is your frame of reference, if your jump is vertical and the airplane's speed is constant, then you will land exactly where you took off.

    Now during the time taken for you jump, the airplane as a whole has moved a "little further down". So to an external frame of reference, you've landed a little further down.

    Now you have answers for both frame of references, your call!

  7. Law of physics.  You were moving at such speed by the airplane that you jump in a forward speed and then land in the same spot.  

    Now if the plane used flaps and wind breaks in the middle of your jump, you would land a little forward than when you took off.
