Airplane questions?

Hi! I am going to fly to Italy from US soon and I had some questions about airplanes since I've never flown before.

Does anyone know the weight restrictions for luggage for Virgin Atlantic & Ailitalia airlines?

How many bags are you allowed to carry for Virgin Atlantic & Ailitalia airlines?

Also, what items are not allowed to be carried on planes. (example, could you bring razors to shave or is that considered a weapon? i know, kinda funny question, but i'm just wondering. Maybe some things that we use everyday aren't allowed on planes...)

If anyone could provide any info or a link with this info, it would be helpful! Thanks!

Hi , looks a good trip !

youre allowed 20kg's worth of luggage to go in the hold ( if you go over they will charge you excess!) and a few bags on the flight.

you wont be allowed a razor as it is a weapon , you're not allowed any sharp objects or cigarettes lighters etc ,, although you are allowed you're mobile phone , ipod etc

It depends on how much you pay for your ticket, you need to check when you book it, but according to virgin atlantics website..

Two pieces of luggage per passenger, each weighing up to 23kg (50lbs). When added together, the three dimensions of any piece of luggage must not exceed 158cm (62in).

But you really need to check when you book as it can all depend on the ticket you purchase.

You can take blades etc, but ONLY in your checked in luggage. In your hand luggage you can't take blades (including razor blades), tweezers, metal nail files etc. Anything sharp and pointy. You can't take gas canisters, and I believe in the USA you're not allowed to take lighters, but this might have changed. You are allowed to take liquids onboard with you, but only in small bottles of no less than 100ml. You need to pack these in a see through bag, like a sandwich bag, but they usually have some at the airport for you to use. You can pack as many liquids in your checked in luggage as you want.
