I was at a party last night and a lady who is 4 months pregnant was drinking. I noticed she only had one glass of champagne, so she should be fine right?

  1. she should be fine as long as she doesn't go over borad drinking.

  2. One glass USUALLY doesn't hurt, however no amount of alcohol should be consumed as the baby consumes as much alcohol as the mother once it crosses the placenta.

  3. Yup. Alcohol and pregnancy is never a good idea. But, a drink here and there will not hurt. Excessive drinking..OFTEN is what results in damage to the baby.

  4. One glass should be fine. You really should not have any alcohol during your pregnancy at all, but as long as she hasn't been drinking one or so on a regular basis, the baby should be fine.

  5. Alcohol in Pregnancy means crooked kids, deaf, blind, weak, health problem for life time for one glass.

Woma should not drink any alchol for 9 moths just for the sake of their own child.

  6. Some say it hurts, some say it doesnt. Personaly, I decided to stay on the safe side and I'm not drinking anything... But many doctors will agree that one occasional glass of wine (or champagne) will not hurt.

My SIL did it when she was pregnant and all of her 3 kids are fine! (She drank 1 or 2 glass of wines through the whole pregnancy)

    It's a very personal choice.

  7. you should have dumped the glass on her head.

  8. Maybe that isnt the only time she drank. She should be okay but she might do it other times also. It can do very great damage to your baby. Hopefully that was the 1st and last time she will drink while pregnant!

  9. yea its probably fine but she shouldnt take the chances if she keeps going around every jus having one rink it could ad up her baby could come out with FAS fetal alcohol syndrome her baby can be mentally ill or have many other defects.

  10. She's fine.  My OB gave me the green light to have a glass of wine every once and awhile.

I personally haven't indulged in anything more than a sip of my husband's champagne at a wedding, and a sip to try his mulled cider once, but I have permission to do so if I wanted.

Hard liquor should always be avoided.

Fetal alcohol syndrome is caused by the consistent consumption of more than 3 oz of alcohol per day.

  11. My dr said a glass of wine now and then was not bad and im sure champane its the same...  my personal pref. is not to drink at all..

  12. i heard that was okay.

  13. probably fine

  14. yup, the most important time to not drink is in the first 2 months when the heart and brain are being developed. So she will be fine as long as that isn't a habit.

    here's a good site

  15. Doctors are now saying that is ok to have the occasional small drink when you are pregnant. One glass of wine a day is the limit.

  16. There is no official amount of alcohol that is safe during pregnancy. I'm sure she will be fine, as everyone that I know that had one drink every so often was just fine. And it was shockingly quite a few people.

  17. Nope! absolutely not! No drinks of anything that has something to do with alcohol are fine...It will still affect the baby. Same with Cigarettes..My friend who had a baby last year, smoked all 9 months throughout her pregnancy...the baby is fine now, but later it most likely WILL develop health issues in the future...its a shame..

  18. one glass will not hurt, but prolonged use is not good for her at all.

  19. Don't do it drinking fine wine when pregnant sets to high a standard for the child, after it is born it may crave Cognac or some other expensive spirit, better do what we did and drink only Malt Liqour, it's not too expensive  but when you put it in the feeding bottle make sure the foam has died down, wouldn't want to get too many bubbles in your precious bundle. ARE YOU KIDDING  "NEVER DRINK OR SMOKE WHEN PREGNANT"

  20. Alcohol is NEVER good during pregnancy.  Ever.

Why even risk it??  It's your CHILD?!?

    Sounds very selfish to me.

  21. im pretty sure she should be fine. if it was only ONE glass, well it also depends on how big the glass was but if it was normal size than she wont loose her baby or anything.

  22. yes, but I personally would say that alcohol whilst pregnant, is best avoided

  23. Yes,  many doctors feel that a mother can have a one drink with no worries.  "Alcohol is mainly metabolized by the liver, and only what's left will be met by the placenta. The amount that could reach the fetus in a glass of beer or a glass of wine is negligible."  Obviously, drinking heavily while pregnant is dangerous, and can harm the baby.  Many doctors say you should never drink during the first 4 months.
