Question

1.For some strange reason jim's diet caused him to gain weight rather than lose weight.If his weight increased 35% to 297 pounds, what did he weight before he began the diet?

2.Two of seven of the people surveyed liked the new recipe.if 56 people were surveyed , how many liked the new recipe?

i think your supposed to used the OLD+ OR - %(OLD)=NEW

formula but im not sure how to used it

2. set up 2/7 = x/56,  then cross multipl

             112 = 7x
