    a = -8b

    Let b = 3/4:

    a = -8(3/4)

    a = -6

    Associative Property of Addition:

    The sum of two quantities added to a third quantity is equal to the sum of the second and third quantities added to the first quantity

    4 div by -1/2 = -8

    Associative prop. : you can group items in any order to add. You can add the first 2 and then the 3rd or the last 2 and then the 1st.
