  1. yes,

& just bc she was allergic doesnt mean u had to get rid of it.....

if its in your room or somthing.....

she doesnt have to go near it

  2. have you read http://www.cavyspirit.com/allergies.htm ?

  3. yeah maybe. or something in the cage. like bedding. or the food. or a food toy you had in there.

  4. Was it a long haired guinea pig? My sister was allergic to my long haired guinea pigs but not to her short haired one.

  5. What kind of bedding did you have for it?  When I first got my guinea pigs I was using pine bedding and every time I got near them I would start sneezing and breaking out in hives.

  6. It was probably the bedding or hay, not the guinea pig itself. My boyfriend has pretty bad allergies, but I just put an air filter in the room with the pigs and it removes a lot of the dust from the hay.

Generally with allergies, the allergies are to the dander and saliva, not the fur itself. However, most people who complain about allergies to guinea pigs are reacting to the bedding or hay, not the pigs.

Too bad you brought the pig back - allergies are very manageable, especially with animals like guinea pigs that can simply be kept behind a closed door. Open the window, get a filter, pop a Benadryl - symptoms gone.

  7. That's too bad...well it could be the bedding,...or the fur, my best friend is allergic to my guinea pigs, and I don't even use bedding for them, I use a towel instead, it's easier... but that's too bad...but it most likely was the fur.
