Allergies or something else?

For the last 3 months I get this allergies like symptoms that turn out to be close to a cold, it starts with very runny nose, then I get headaches, sore throat, cough and when this kicks in I get pain in my left leg. I end up losing my voice and spitting green stuff, big headaches, benadryl or my veramyst cannot fight with this, it lasts for like a week, but I`ve been getting this for the last 3 months and same symptoms every time, anyone has any idea about this? Thanks in advance.

  1. I agree with Jenn.  Allergies could very possibly be the cause.  Though it could occur without the itchy eyes.  It looks like it may be more troublesome for you than most people.  But I would worry about the pain in your leg and losing your voice.  Moreso the pain in your leg... that is something that needs to be talked over with when you see your doctor.

The fact that Benadryl or Veramyst are doing nothing indicate 1 of 3 things to me.  One - you seriously need something much stronger in the way of allergy medicines.  Or two - it is something other than allergies.  Not sure what, as my only other guesses would be migraines (but the runny nose, green stuff, and leg pain make me wonder about that) or - as Jenn said - infection.  You could be fighting off an infection, and temporarily be winning (could explain why same symptoms every time).  Or the third wonderful possibility - any combination of the above!  Okay, not so wonderful possibility!

You could be having an allergic reaction to something, which then triggers a migraine and/or sinus infection.  Sadly, it is a very real possibility.

Please speak to a doctor soon.  Any way it goes, this isn't pleasant - not that I needed to remind you of that, of course!  But it is quite likely to become more unpleasant as you let it continue.

Hope that you get better soon!

  2. If your eyes are watery and itchy as is your nose then it is most likely allergies.

Spitting up green stuff is bad. It means you have an infection.

Be observant of what you are eating or being exposed to just prior to the onset of symptoms.
