I keep thinking that I am an emotional drinker. My life is so boring and the only thing that gives me enjoyment is a good Rum and Coke Buzz!! The problem is..I sometimes over drink and blackout. I hate when that happens!! I am not myself and do not remember saying things and doing things. I do not need a drink every day and do not think about it 24/7. SO am I or not? Some people say I drink too much at times, but alot of people enjoy me more when I drink. I am a happy drunk and very fun to be around. Please help me!!!!

  1. Try drinking only at the weekends, if you can do that then you are not an alcoholic, you just have poor control.  There are many things you can do to extend the buzz without getting blotto, the primary one is to eat whilst you drink.  This will slow down both the volume you are drinking and the time it takes to get into your bloodstream.  Once you are on the buzz switch to cola only, and the alcohol you have already consumed will continue to be absorbed from your stomach whilst your body metabolises it maintaining the buzz but not taking you over the edge.  But be warned this process can extend for hours after you have stopped drinking and can leave you still over the legal limit well into the next day even if you feel completely sober.

  2. You do not need to drink everyday to be an alcoholic.

There are two general categories, the "regular everyday, cant get to sleep without a beer alcoholic", and then the "I don't drink everyday, haven't drunk anything in a week so its ok to drink a bottle to the face, curse out my friend and be a douche to some girls" alcoholic, "wake up in my own vomit" type.

You seem to be the latter (not that you do any of those things, thats just the classic definition of binges).

So anyway, I'm an alcoholic too, just try not to drink, and when you do, do so in moderation.

AA sucks, I've gone and it just gets me to think about alcohol more because everyones talking about it (am I alone on this) but if you feel you don't have control, then it is a good option, in fact, almost the only option besides taking control back.

Good luck, and take it easy.

  3. If you have to ask the question, then you have a problem.  You may not be an "alcoholic", but apparently it is affecting you in a way that it has caught your attention to question your actions.

I would suggest a self evaluation to see if drinking is worth the negatives that you seem to be noticing.

    Cheers

  4. sounds like your a social drinker, just don't drink as much at one sitting. also trust who your with when you pass out

  5. Doesn't sound like you are an alocholic. Find out what triggers the emotional drinker and maybe seek help for the reasons why you pick up the rum and coke. If you are only drinking socially then I wouldn't worry about it.

  6. It doesn't sound like you are an alcoholic, but watch out...it sounds like you have alcoholic tendencies.  Be careful.

  7. Dont act stupid you know you drink too much. But just calm it down a little i love too drink as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  9. Stop acting like a stupid girl and you'll be fine.... learn how to say "No thanks, I'm fine"

  10. just take like a month break from drinking if you don't have detox or a constant urge to drink i would say no

  11. Yes you are an alcoholic.  Why one drinks has a lot to do with the alcoholic labeling.  Blackouts are another obvious sign.  Sounds very dangerous for you; someone could take advantage of you and do you harm during a blackout.  If you need a "buzz" to be happy and fun to be around is another sign that you're an alcoholic.  The good news is you don't have to live that way.  Get help and be happy with who you are without artificial, quick fixes like alcohol and/or drugs.  Good luck to you on your journey; hope you find the real you.
